According to the World Bank, South Africa is the most unequal country. In the world.

A land of beauty and misery, of sharp contrasts. Here's a striking example.

30 minutes' drive from the lively Cape Town Waterfront,  next to a splendid vineyard estate... lies the squatter camp of Doornbach.

A community creche in the heart of Doornbach squatter camp badly needed reconstruction.

Established on private land, this informal camp was not qualified for social services assistance albeit home to 30'000 inhabitants.

So ACT stepped in.

Reconstruction of the
Hill Shine Academy, Mure  - Nepal

Picture
After the 2015 earthquake, the primary school of Mure in Nepal was declared unsafe and had to be demolished.

To enable a quick back-to-school for all young students of the area, the school had to be re-built at record speed.

So ACT stepped in.

School management was handed over formally on the occasion of the Grand Opening to the local community in November 2017.

The rebuilt school is now attended by 104 students aged
4 to 13 and 8 teachers.
