ACT was made aware by the authorities of a derelict infrastructure sheltering abused women and children in Blue Downs, just across from Khayelitsha.
On the occasion of the sponsor's annual conference in Cape Town, ACT and the agency MotivationAfrica organised the complete renovation of the shelter in a single day by 250 C-level voluntary and enthusiastic corporate executives. |
The sponsoring company covered all repairs, equipment and manpower to transform the shelter into a safe, clean and healthy place to accommodate up to 100 women and children.
The project was aimed at long-term sustainability, making it eligible once again for social grant receipt. |
