This is the story of rebuilding lives.
And a school. On the 25th and 26th of April 2015 with a serious aftershock on May 12, Nepal was hit by 3 huge earthquakes. Already amongst the poorest countries in the world, these catastrophic events destroyed roads, bridges, infrastructures and buildings in mountainous areas, almost impossible to reach. Not to mention political instability and widespread corruption - the perfect storm for the population. |
The scale of destruction was such that the Nepalese government, even with the international assistance, was incapable of funding or even managing reconstruction.
ACT sponsors access to basic education when and where possible. The successful rebuilding of Hill Shine Academy fits in perfectly with the mission. The project has been managed by Swiss volunteers from the association "Ensemble" who were on site to supervise the reconstruction of the school. They are the authors of the pictures on this page. https://hillshineacademy.jimdofree.com ACT supported this project through a financial contribution. |
